My many birthdays in May

A couple days ago was my birthday. Birthday are great!! I turned 29 this year. I thought it would be fun to go though my photos and pull out pictures taken around my birthday.

This was taken in 06 in Honduras at a good friends baby shower. Two young girls in the photo were only 12 now they are 18.

Could not find a picture of me in 2007 but here is my other half and Charlie when she was two. We were in California visit family on our way to Russia.

2008 on a US military frigit. It was really cool, we got a tour of it and were taken out to sea for a few hours. I was sick but wanted to go so badly so I went any way. Leah was so little here.

2009 On the Mainland of Honduras for a get away.

2010 hanging out in our room, Roatan.

2011 in Wisconsin pregnant with Dasha

This is todays photo of 2012. Lil guy is really into photos these days.

Mothers day

For mothers day Clint made me before church for breakfast blinis, they are a favorite of mine. I was so pleased, he also picked me wild flowers. I felt very special as a mother that day.

My four little children make mothers day a reality in my life.

On Pizza

I like pizza a lot! When we moved back to the US a year ago I experienced Papa John for the first time and it became my favorite. When ever I got a craving I wanted only Papa Johns and that got expensive of course so I did not get my cravings fulfilled as often as I would want. After getting my bread machine (a thrifty find) I found a pizza dough recipe and I love it. Now when ever I want pizza we make home made which is so much cheaper and fun, also I can throw on whatever topping I want.

Here the girls are helping me.

Jallapinos!

I have to confess that I do not like my home made whole wheat dough. I do not care for that whole wheat flavor in pizza, so I normally use white flour.

Backyard

Spring has been lovely and we have finally mowed and weed wacked the back yard. I had been avoiding it because well I am lazy.

We drove down together because it was the first Thursday of the month and the Milwaukee art museum had free admission so we took that opportunity to get some culture under our belts.

It’s a pretty cool looking building, very modern.

The kids enjoyed the child hands on area. Clint and I really enjoyed all the classic art. The kids were a bit bored with the classics until asked to draw what they saw than they had a bit more fun. It was a good experience, I think we will be doing that again.

Someone once said to me “children are waisted on the young”. At the time I was 20 and single and had yet to experience marriage or children of my own, I did not understand what he was talking about but now with every passing year and with every new baby I know he was right. I appreciate each day with my children a little more and I treasure each stage even more than before. I am slightly sad to see little Dasha get older, I want to soak up these short days of her babyhood as much as possible.

She rolls like a pro and will sit on her own for a few seconds. She is growing!

Her siblings adore her.

Running

Started feeling the urge to run again.

I started a simple couch to 5 k program. I like those programs, they are fun and easy. Getting out is so relaxing. This is my first time running in town, before I lived in the country or on an island. City running is a lot more entertaining, and one can take different routes each day and see different things, makes for an interesting run. I love looking at the old houses. I don’t even mind the cracked streets.

I have heard some people comment about the roads in my town but I actually like them, it’s character.

He is Risen!

On Easter morning with our youth at church my husband would say “He is risen!” they would just stare back at him blankly not knowing the traditional response of “He is risen indeed!”. Now they know though. I have always loved that greeting. Easter is such a wonderful Holiday because our Lord has risen and like an old hymn “Because He lives” goes

Because He Lives
I Can Face Tomorrow
Because He Lives
All Fear Is Gone
Because I Know He Holds The Future
And Life Is Worth The Living
Just Because He Lives

Another Hymn I like is “Hallelujah what a savior”

Man of Sorrows! what a name
For the Son of God, Who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

and “He could have called ten thousand angels”

He could have called ten thousand angels
To destroy the world and set him free
He could have called ten thousand angels
But he died alone, for you and me.

So many good hymns. I grew up in a Hymn singing family and I sang in choir at a Baptist church in my youth so I had the honor of learning a lot of great hymns. I like to pull out the hymn book and sing to my kids at bed time now and again, I have not done it in a few years. I will have to start it up again.

Easter is a Holiday we can celebrate every day so maybe I should just go around greeting people with “He is risen”, now that would be a conversation starter.

Wedding ring

I lost my wedding ring a few months back. My optimistic self thinks it will turn up or at least that is what I did think but now I am thinking it maybe gone. Maybe, I say, it could still turn up but until than. . .

this will take its place. I really like it and it only cost 9 bucks. I got the idea while looking in the jewelry section at Walmart and I saw this and you know, who would even know its a fake besides me? I really love my fake!!!

I agree they grow up to fast. She is already rolling from back to front and front to back. She is way to busy and curious for her own good. Watch out world here she comes!
