Thanksgiving family photo shoot

Thanksgiving this year took place at my sisters house. My dad was home for the event which does not always happen since he is a semi truck driver. My side of the family wanted to do a family photo since the last one taken was about 4 years ago and  were missing my three older brothers, they could not make it. This time around we are missing two of my older brothers. One lives on the west coast and the other he and his family were out of town.

First proper photo

Goofy shot

Just the Michael’s now.

None serious.

We had a nice day including musical specials, some thanksgiving history, indoor and out door games and of course a very yummy meal.

Missing my brothers and the Laird’s in Honduras. Wish they had been there too.

The day after

Hard not to talk politics. Something running through my head during this time is a poem written by Hiram Mann. a New York City attorney who died at age 83 in 1955, had these lines published in the Wall Street Journal in 1947:

No man escapes
When freedom fails,
The best men rot in filthy jails;
And they who cried: “Appease, Appease!”
Are hanged by men they tried to please.

My dad had that in his wallet for years. As a child I thought that was Stalins Russia and Hitlers Germany but now I know all to well we are heading down the same path, if only everyone else could see that. Any way, we aren’t there yet and I hope the Lord comes back before than. My hope is in Jesus alone and as the Bible says in Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Another good one is Isaiah 45:6b-7 I am the Lord, and there is none other. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all thesethings.

Girls tea/slumber party

Last week I hosted a girls slumber party that had a tea party theme. All the lovely ladies dressed up (even me). We drank lots of tea, played games, danced and enjoyed each others company.

I had three of my sisters come help, they dressed up too.

The lovely younger young ladies all started to arrive.

they were all so enchanting.

Here is a group photo of all of us.

For jewelry we made edible necklaces.

The tea snacks were yummy

and so was the tea.

We even had some gluten free items.

I was blessed to have all these great kids in my home.

Women’s retreat

Last week end I went on my first women’s retreat ever.

I was able to go with with two awesome ladies. It was at Green Lake conference center which is gorgeous. The lake was very clear. I found an old Winnebego Indian trail that the call of my ancestors bid me to take lovely early morning runs on( ok I am not from the Winnebego tribe but the Cherokee).

There was also some old homesteaders cabin which the call of my other ancestors bid me to see but I was unable to locate it on my run.
