Things to be done

(I wrote this a few months back, I’ve been having issues with my blog but have it fixed now and so here is something new and old 😁)

There are so many things I want to do, try to do and should do but I am constantly distracted so that when I actually have a chance to do it I can’t even remember what I was going to do! Yes, one of those crazy cycles that seams to have no end.

Me dressed for church standing next to a bed full of clean laundry that needs to be folded and put away. One of those many things that needs to get done in my house. Hope I remember to do it😉

What I do find myself doing a lot of is holding these young ones because I’ve heard that babies don’t keep. Which comes to mind that poem by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton called

Song for a Fifth Child (rather appropriate because this is my 5th child too)

Mother, oh mother, come shake out your cloth! Empty the dustpan, poison the moth, Hang out the washing and butter the bread, Sew on a button and make up a bed. Where is the mother whose house is so shocking? She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking!

Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby, loo). Dishes are waiting and bills are past due (Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo). The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo. Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue? (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.)

Oh, cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, But children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow. So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust, go to sleep. I’m rocking my baby. Babies don’t keep.
