Horseless jockey

Found this totally cool vintage horse ridding helmit at the thrift store for $2! I let my Nini girl have it and the next morning she came down dressed like this . . .

I think She is ready to ride! All we need now is a horse. . . or not.

The crafty things I did yesterday

I am on such a roll!

I labeled all my baking stuff in my cupboard. If they weren’t than they are now!
 And. . . .

Upholstered my dinning room chairs with the help of my bestie!

Voilà! Before they had this sheer looking materiel.

It did not do very well with small children.

Continued construction on church

We had a big work day at Calvary SonRise. It was a good turn out and much got done.

Rooms got wiped down for painting.

Walls were framed and a floor was put in. So thankful to all those who turned out! We had some people show up from Calvary Chapel Appleton, Calvary Bible,  Grace Bible and not to mention those from our fellowship.

Chalk board painted tea tins

My family and I enjoy a good cup of tea.

Yes we go the whole nine yards with tea pot, tea cups, creamer and traditional sugar  bowl just about every day because like I said we do enjoy a good cuppa tea! Now all this tea drinking creates a bit of a conglomeration of loose leaf and bagged teas (loose leaf is by far the best).

Wanting to make sense of this mess I decided to use some old tins as my tea containers. I scraped off all the paper and than continued to clean the glue off with Goo Gone.

It cleaned off really nice!

Next I picked up some spray chalk board paint and spray painted them.

They turned out really nice! Now I can use the tins for any tea that I want.

And have fun decorating them as I please.

Calvary SonRise Oshkosh

4 years ago we moved to Oshkosh with the desire on our hearts to plant a church in Oshkosh Wisconsin. We left the international missionfield to be national missionaries in our own country. That was a big step for us because we thrived on life abroad, we enjoyed divers cultures, different foods and languages. This all changed though as ever so quietly and gently the Lord pointed us in this direction and we knew we had to obey. We left Honduras and arrived in Wisconsin the fall of 2010, we embrace the cold quite willing after years of sweating in the hot tropics of central America. The beginning  of our church plant was a Saturday evening fellowship in our own home, we considered it our Saturday night church. Eventually a mid week men’s study was started than a mid week womens study. After 4 years we felt it was time for a building.  That was a step we did not want to take hastily so we did not rush, we kept our eyes open. We eventually noticed this building(the one at the top of the post). I noticed the building often when on my runs or out driving. I brought it to my husbands attention and he eventually looked into it and now after quite a process our church Calvary SonRise Oshkosh own’s it! It used to be an office building for a construction company. We have been working on it because for sure it’s a fixer upper!

Progress is being made.

And we now hold Sunday morning services here!

The big sanctuary and other classrooms are still under construction.

But we are excited about them and hope to have them finished and ready to go by this fall.

Back to normal?

My sister and brother in law sold there house. They decided to move down south where the weather is warmer. During the last 2 weeks they’ve been staying with us while they got everything figured out before they left. It was perfect timing really because they were able to watch my kids while my husband and I were at the hospital for the birth of the baby and than to have help around the house while I was recovering. During their time here I got used to seeing their 4 kids running around the house with my kids.

My boy and my sisters boy are best friends.
I got used to waking up to the smell of coffee(my brother in law drinks coffee unlike me and my husband), having tea and hot chocolate with my sister while we sat around chatting. It was nice to be together.

Last night was our last night together, some friends came over and said their goodbyes to them and we got a photo of some of the kids together. Now today they left this morning, my house is empty feeling with them gone, I tell myself that now things will get back to normal but than what is normal? When they were with us that became the normal now we will go back to a different normal of just us again. I feel sad, I liked my new normal. I miss my them so much(sob).

My puppy-less dog

IMG_3120.JPG

Two months ago our dog had puppies. It was a surprise to us because it was not planned. She spent a bit of time with my sisters Doberman at just the right time of her cycle. (We were in Honduras while this was going on). So one fine Tuesday morn these appeared

We researched to see if the mix of a Doberman and a Rottweiler was a desirable mix and low and behold found they are considered a “designer breed” which is called Rottermans and people pay money for this “mutt”. My husband put them up for sale for $350 each and they were quickly spoken for and yesterday the last two went. Now we are back to a quiet one dog home with a few extra dollars in our pockets. I was happy to see them go because they were a bit of work and me being in my 3rd trimester it was not something I had a lot of energy for but now it’s all over. Alls well that ends well.

December is here!

The holiday season has arrived! I really do enjoy this time of year, it’s fun making the cookies, decorating and being all cosy inside with a cup of tea or hot cocoa.

One thing is lacking which is a good snow storm. We have snow but not very much. I am hoping to get one or two before Christmas.

Things have been a bit stressful because we have a lot going on and the fact I am pregnant does not help. I think this being my last few weeks of being pregnant and feeling achy and big all the time is the main stress factor. I have lightened up the kids school load and that has helped a lot.

The baby will be here the day after Christmas, I never would have thought I would have a Christmas baby and now I am!
